£90 for the term. Locked in for life. One person, in person, fully insured.

The Spins is a student laundry pickup and delivery service at the University of Exeter. Run by one student — me, Leander — with insurance, an ICO registration, a Companies House filing, and a guarantee that has actual teeth. The bag gets picked up at your kid's door once a week and comes back clean, dry, folded, in 48 hours.

no.01 — what your kid gets

once a week.
door pickup. door return.

You pay once for the term. Your kid leaves a bag outside their door at an agreed time. Within 48 hours it's back, clean and folded, with a tracking SMS at every stage. No coins, no queues, no Sunday spent in a launderette.

01

weekly pickup

Booked slot. Same day each week. We text 30 minutes before we arrive.

02

wash · dry · fold

Photographed at pickup. Washed at a partner Exeter laundromat. Folded.

03

48-hour return

Back at their door. Tracked at every stage by SMS. With this cycle's playlist.

04

monthly SMS to you

Off by default — only if your kid opts you in. One text a month. Plain English.

no.02 — your monthly text

what the monthly text looks like.

If your kid opts you in, you get one SMS a month. No marketing, no upsells, no panic-language. Just whether the bag came and went.

Hi — Sam did 4 weeks of laundry in October. All on time, no issues. Bag in good condition. Next pickup Mon 4 Nov. — The Spins

That's it. We don't text you when nothing happens. We don't escalate trivial things. We don't try to upsell you. If anything actually goes wrong, you hear about it the same day — directly from me, by phone if it matters.

no.03 — promise

the founder's guarantee.

Any week we miss a pickup or return your kid's laundry late — that week is free.

And if your kid ever quits because we let them down — not because they graduated, moved out, or just lost interest — we'll write a £20 cheque to their favourite Exeter society as an apology. Conditional. Named. With teeth.

Refund policy in full on the terms page. No fine print elsewhere.

no.04 — the price

£90 for the term.
locked in for life.

Founder Cohort price is £90 for 12 weeks. That's £7.50 per pickup — half of what most students spend on a single bag through a national service. If you sign up before October 5, that rate is locked in for every term your kid is at Exeter. No annual hikes. No "founder special expired" emails. Same price in their second year. Same price in their third.

no.05 — parent questions

the questions parents actually ask.

Is this just one student? Is that safe?
Yes — one student. Me, Leander. I'm fully insured (£2m public liability, FCA-regulated insurer), ICO-registered for data handling, and trademark-protecting the brand at the UK IPO. The whole point is one face, one phone, one name in your kid's contacts — not a churn of gig drivers.
What if my kid drops out or moves out mid-term?
If we haven't started service, you get a full refund. If service has started, you get a pro-rata refund for unused weeks. No exit form, no fee. Just email or WhatsApp.
How do you handle lost or damaged clothing?
Every bag is photographed at pickup with a tagged order number. If a garment goes missing or comes back damaged, we credit £10 per item, no arguments. The system was designed around not losing your kid's hoodie.
Do you actually do laundry, or do you outsource?
We pick up, transport, and return — the laundering is done at a partner Exeter laundromat we have a wholesale contract with. The advantage: industrial machines, proper drying, no scaling overhead. The trade-off: it's not done in my flat.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Reply STOP on WhatsApp or email. No re-billing, no exit form. If you cancel because we let your kid down, we send £20 to their favourite Exeter society on the way out.
How is my payment data handled?
All payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store card details. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. Your address and contact info are stored encrypted in line with UK GDPR / ICO registration. Full privacy policy →
What happens after Oct 5?
The Founder Cohort closes at 50 households or Oct 5, whichever comes first. After that the price doubles to £180/term and the route is closed to new sign-ups until I have capacity for a second cohort.
Can I talk to you directly?
Yes — that's the whole point. WhatsApp me or email hello@thespins.uk. I reply same-day, usually within an hour.
