privacy policy.
This policy explains what data The Spins collects, why, and what your rights are. We're a UK sole trader, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. If anything here is unclear, email hello@thespins.uk and we'll explain in plain English.
1. Who we are
The Spins is a trading name of Leander Doerner, sole trader, based in Exeter, UK. We're registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller.
- Data controller: Leander Doerner, t/a The Spins, Exeter, UK
- Contact: hello@thespins.uk
- ICO registration: Pending — number published here once issued
2. What we collect
When you join the waitlist or Founder Cohort
- Your name, email, mobile number, and (optionally) your accommodation
- Stripe customer ID if you pay (we never see or store card details — Stripe handles those)
- The address we pick up from and return to
When you download the Survival Pack
- Your email address only
When you use the site
- Anonymous analytics (page views, country) via Plausible — no cookies, no tracking, no personal identifiers.
- Stripe sets functional cookies on the checkout pages it hosts (its own domain) — not on ours.
3. Why we collect it
- To deliver the laundry service (we can't pick up your bag without your address)
- To text you when we arrive and when your laundry's back
- To send you the Survival Pack and occasional updates if you opted in
- To handle payments via Stripe
- To understand which pages of the site work, anonymously
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with the suppliers we need to run the service:
- Stripe — for payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant)
- Mailchimp — for email lists and the Survival Pack
- Cloudflare — for site hosting and email routing
- Airtable — for our internal customer ops database
We do not sell your data. We do not pass it to advertisers, data brokers, or marketing platforms.
5. How long we keep it
- Active customers: while you're a customer, plus 12 months
- Waitlist signups: until you ask us to delete, or 24 months
- Survival Pack subscribers: until you unsubscribe
- Payment records: 7 years (HMRC requirement)
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your data (subject to legal record-keeping requirements)
- Object to processing, or withdraw consent at any time
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you think we're handling your data badly
Exercise any of these by emailing hello@thespins.uk. We respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
The Spins uses no first-party cookies for tracking. Plausible analytics is cookieless. When you go to checkout, Stripe sets functional cookies on its own pages — those are necessary for the payment to work and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
8. Changes
If we change this policy materially, we'll notify customers by email. Trivial fixes (typos, restructure) we just publish.
